We look forward to welcoming Debbie Smith to our sister church of St. John’s. Debbie, together with husband Andrew, brings a wealth of life and ministry experience, both before and after ordination. From a nursing background, she served as a pastoral assistant and eventually worked as a psychotherapist for the NHS. She has tutored in pastoral care and was ordained in 2005. Following a curacy in West Yorkshire they moved to New Zealand in 2007 where she developed a significant congregation for young families and became National Team Leader for Messy Church, together with a diocesan role in children & family ministry. Back in the UK Debbie worked as Spiritual Support Lead at a hospice in Eastbourne. Andrew, also ordained, brings his own gifts and experience. Debbie will be licenced at the end of May. Debbie says: ‘I am delighted to have been appointed as Resident Minister to Churt and Rushmoor. I look forward to this opportunity, the potential for growth and where God will lead us. Together with Andrew and Daisy our wire-haired fox terrier, we are very much looking forward to building relationships across the church and community and making Churt our home.’
