Karen trained to work in Early Years Education through nursery nursing and an Early Years degree. She has three grown up children, and three grandchildren. She has worked in schools, nurseries, SEN work and support, fostering, and supported lodgings for teenagers, as well as church based camps, clubs, and groups.
